TAKESHI YOSHIDA

Takeshi Yoshida

Welding Department / Year joined: 2007

It has been 10 years since
I joined the company.
There are still endless
things to learn in my work.
Knife welding is difficult,
but that is why I find it interesting.

Tell us what prompted you to join the company.

I was also a welder in my previous job. I looked for a workplace where I could put the skills I had learned to better use, and I found Ono Knife.

Tell us about your work.

My work is welding, for which I can apply my skills to the limit.
My main work is to weld the handle and the blade of the knife together.

Tell us what you find exciting, fun and motivating about your job.

I was very happy when I saw our main brand Shun on TV. I am very proud that our work is highly regarded. Surprisingly, a friend in Peru knew about Shun. Overseas, Shun is a product for wealthy people. It has low name recognition in Japan, but I was very happy to see that it is well known overseas. The interesting thing about this work is that it provides never-ending puzzles to solve. Knives are difficult to handle, but I find that rewarding. The company often gives us opportunities to go overseas, which is fun as it broadens my horizons.

Tell us about your future goal.

I want to continue improving my welding skills. I want to eventually become so skillful that I am called a master of welding. And to be appearing on the TV program “Jonetsu Tairiku” that features skilled professionals, that’s my dream (laughing).

Do you have any message to people who are considering joining the company?

If you are eager to work, not too serious, and are used to the kind of atmosphere found in university sports clubs, you are welcome to join us.
Let’s make the world’s number-one cooking knives together!
It is a very friendly, pleasant place to work.
